So, after browsing the clothing board for a while, i suddenly thought, "It's really annoying to sift through the same project over and over and over again!!"

It takes up a lot of space to see 10 circle skirt posts in a row. Couldn't we have some child boad that was something along the lines of "Completed Tutorials"? That way, we can put all the projects that people just use a tute for in the same place. I see this on every single board. Instead of having discussion and presentation of new projects, the boards are just overflowing with these projects we've seen a million times - wether it be circle skirts, hardcover novel into journal, the jordy bag, whatever. Usually these posts are super long any way (Jordy bag is over 82 pages now), and it keeps getting bumped to the top. When the same project is posted a million times the new things get pushed out and people hardly ever look at them.  Sad

Does anyone else feel the same way? I mean, I love browsing craftster, but I always liked it better when I saw new projects and ideas, not the same one 10 million times (okay so that's a bit of a hyperbole, but you know how I feel). I don't want people to stop posting what they made, I just want some more organization so we can see the newer projects and all the same ones can be in one place.

I see where your coming from.  I constantly merge threads together to try and avoid this problem.  I'm not sure about the child board thing. From a moderators standpoint, it would be alot more work than we already deal w/ now.

Hmm, I didn't even think about it being more work for moderators. It wouldn't really increase the number of posts or anything, just organize them. Maybe we could request that when a tutorial is posted all the completed ones should go in that post. The circle skirt one has a lot of post of the projects, but I think a lot of posters don't realize to put them there, so they just start a new thread. What if leah made some sort of ettiqute announcement instructing people to not start new threads of the same project? I think that could be very effective. From a moderator standpoint, would that help or cause more work?

an ettiquette announcement may help, but then again, i've seen the same stuff happen over and over again than an announcement doesnt really help. there are so many people signing up everyday, and many who don't always post. most regular posters will try and help keep the boards organzied, but some of the newer members don't really know how. It sucks, I know. I totally agree with you.  Honestly though, I'm not sure how much anything will help this issue.

I don't find it annoying to see 10 threads in a row about circle skirts, jordy bags, necktie skirts and whatnot if people want to show us  their stuff well so be it. besides right under your username theres a link to show you your unread posts since your last visit. that's what i use.
just my opinion, please don't be mad <3

an etiquette question: if someone posts a project and tutorial, and we make our own version that is similar to the original project, is it better to start a new thread (which contributes to repetition problem)? or should we just post in the original thread, and not worry that we're "hijacking" the original poster's thread?

i'd say just start your own thread. if it starts getting to be a promlem, we will merge the topics together.  just make sure you give credit to the original poster

I always thought Craftster was about showing off what we've made - and everyone has a different interpretation on different projects, no matter if they come from a tutorial or not.  Of course, I am not talented enough to follow directions of a tutorial, so I enjoy seeing other people's work who can...

StarSix, that is what craftster is about. i think what the original poster was saying, is how sometimes, its aggrivating to scroll through 15 or 20 of the same projects.

I don't see this as a problem.  You just skip the posts that you're not interested in.  An extra mouse click or two to scroll down the list or to the next page is not a significant hassle.

One of the delights of Craftster is that people can show off what they do.  Sometimes it looks very ordinary or even crappy to me, but the poster enjoys showing it and some people always look at it.

i completely agree with starsix and LRS, and i like seeing the ways people have interpreted the idea to make it unique to them, xx
