My kids saw the cutest little figurines the other day and ooh'd and aah'd over them ... so when we got home, I offered them, they can try making them.
I found bottle caps (juice jugs!) and punched 4 holes into them for feet, helped them to make wire armature and then they added the clay. We let them dry overnight and then they painted with acrylics, letting them dry in between layers, finally adding glitter and mod podge and wool for hair (I helped the 6 yo with Dorothy's and Glinda's hair). It's great to make all the dolls they want and have them stand up nicely - good way to use up pipe cleaners (kids idea to use them for lion's mane) and leftover beads and such.
The 9 yo made her lion and tin man all by herself and decided to make a background for them to play in- love her finger painting there ( Cheesy) and the needle felted sun is a cool touch, right (all her)?

Great looking figures (I particularly like The Lion) and it's cool that you spend the time to work on art projects with your children like that.  No Scarecrow?
