I made these 2 pet portraits for alwaysinmyroom for the IYP Swap Round 26.  The black lab is Bear, and the husky mix is her late pooch love, Rowdy, who is now an angel in heaven.  Once again I used oil pastels.  I hope you all enjoy them.

awww--it is so cool to see my babies in real portraits!

I think you really captured their personalities...Bear is a big old lovable black lab who sits around looking goofy and hoping for snacks all day; my angle Rowdy was a fierce but loyal husky mix...everyone was afraid of him, but he was my forever dog...he survived a lot of horrible things but I know he loved me as much as I loved him.

Thanks, gotgrey...I will cherish these fun portraits of my boys! Grin

These portraits are awesome! My husband saw them as I am writing & said is that the same lady that painted our portraits, I said yes, he says "you are a awesome painter". He knows about it as his Farther did a lot of paintings, we have some of them.

Keep up the good work "gotgrey"! I wish I could paint as good as you. I think I need to take some classes or just practice myself.

Sharlee--the paintings she did for you was one of the reasons I wanted to partner with her!  I loved the soulful eyes...like capturing the spirit of each animal!

I guess you now have a certain "style" that is getting recognized!!! Yes, keep up the good work!

Aww, you all make me blush!  Yes, I suppose I've developed my own "style" that is beginning to be recognized by fellow craftsters and apparently their spouses.  Smiley  These pet portraits are done in oil pastels, just like yours Sharalee.  I consider them more like drawings, than like paintings.  I'm not real good at painting yet.  I was telling alwaysinmyroom that I have better control w/oil pastels, than I do w/acrylics.  But, if I'm doing a large painting, that I will paint w/acrylics.  I think you could paint just fine if you tried Sharalee.  It just takes practice.  I think you would get the hang of oil pastels right quick.
