I have been working up some new animal patterns and got a request for a turtle. I drew this out and made it in about an hour, with time out to help my DW create a sign for a bio diversity project. Unfortunately, the turtle and the owl now live temporarily on the display!

I have lots of upholstery samples that have been hogging space in my stash, so I picked out a couple and a turtle crept into my life.

It's done in two pieces, the body and the shell, then whipped together. A piece of cardboard helps make a flatter bottom shell.

Here he is crawling up my front steps.

And he slipped and turned over!

And here he is with his new friend, Mr. Owl.

Love the use of upholstery fabric for these projects - they really add so much texture and dimension.
Plus these two are cute!

The fabric you used is just perfect for this.  I love the pattern on the plastron.
