This is the quilt I made from squares I received through the QBS - Rd 5 swap.  There is a QBS - Rd 6 taking sign ups right now for anyone who might be interested btw.  Anyway...I asked for hexie blocks from an unusual color palette of chocolate brown, deep purple, magenta, lime green, and lemon yellow.  I received blocks from kbrison, carolmb, alwaysinmyroom, and Melladh.  Actually, alwaysinmyroom was nice enough to make me two sets since the white space was bigger than the others on her first set.

When I started putting it together, the only fabrics I could find that would draw it all together were mostly batiks lol.  I have no problem mixing batiks and non-batiks, so it turned into a pretty bright quilt.

Here is a close up of one of the hexies:

I used alwaysinmyroom's first set of hexies on the back, and placed them off center.

Here is a close up:

I swear they are all straight, but I was trying to take pics by myself before it started raining.   Grin  The quilt is sized somewhere between a throw and a twin.  And I longarmed the whole thing with magenta squiggly lines.

It sure did!  You picked wonderful colors for the borders, binding and backing!

That was a fun block...now quit quilting and get that baby nursery ready for the wee one!!!

We'll still be here so pop in to see how we are doing...and maybe, you will have a bit of time to sneak in a baby quilt!

I already did my baby quilt a couple months ago.  Smiley I do have one more pair of PJ's to finish for the 3 year old and then I'm hanging up my sewing machine for a while.

lol I meant, keep on quilting...you will be so busy, but maybe a small quilt could be done while baby is asleep...and you are awake...if that happens, I mean... Grin

I was hoping to get the front of the Japanese quilt put together since the sashiko is all hand sewing. But I don't know if that's going to happen before mid September...I must nest!   Grin

Love the way the blocks came together and think the purple batik was a good choice for the sashing. Using AIMR's slightly smaller blocks on the back really carries the theme throughout the entire quilt. Very nice job! Now kick back and take it easy for awhile! We'll be expecting baby pictures soon!  Cheesy
