Nicely done, Magpirate!  I dream of growing my own foodstuffs some day, but I'm one of those people who could kill a silk plant, so.... maybe I'll get around to trying to grow some herbs on my patio one of these days.

tiamatfire - I got lost within 2 pics because knitting is Greek to me, but I have this feeling that your picture tutorial is pretty amazing for fellow knitters. You must share!

I also LOVE that doily, madcrafter!!

Great tutorial, thanks! One of the guys at work saw me seeing up the hot water bottle and asked for one, so I'll start on that as soon as the yarn arrives - don't quite know if I'm brave enough to try going needleless though!

Class; appirition
House; Ravenclaw
Project; rainbow wrapping
This rainbow themed gift is actually 6 small gifts, wrapped individually

Their are 3 parts to the craft... The individial wrapping, the box &lid (which i made from sheet cardboard ) and the woven rainbow ribbons

Yep, no problem Mistress Jennie!  I hadn't put a header on it just in case it wouldn't work as a project, and didn't want to make your counting more difficult for next time you added points up! Smiley  I will for sure put it up in the knitting forum later today.

The first ever Magician of the Month* is announced over on the board... along with this term's badge being unveilled!

I will be aiming to announce a new MotM every two weeks (ish), if you would like to suggest someone who you feel deserves to win please PM me

*our non-gendered replacement for witch of the week, since the former award was very rarely weekly anyway Smiley

Class; comc
House; 'clawsome
Project;
another project for my friend's rainbow themed birthday... This will be the cake topper and is my first time using clay (fimo in this case). It was more difficult than i thought, AC/DC my first methodology didn't work at all (see below) but eventually i managed!

Challenge; pomegranate bean
House; Ravenclaw
Project;
The first couple of attempts went badly, the colours all smudged together, but i didn't want to waste the clay, so i played around a bit twisting it to get spirals of colour and made these beads and buttons (used a pin to make holes). I have no idea what I'll do with them, but they're prettyOr enough that of i put them in stash I'll find a use sooner or later

OWL PROPOSAL....

Subject: CoMC option 1
House: ravenclaw
Project...
I will be honouring 4 animals which I consider extraordinary, by making 4 animal hoods for 4 children in my family
I love foxes for their adaptability and tenacity
Mice are just so darn cute and fluffy!
cats are enticingly relaxed, something that I strive to embody myself
and bears are walk are beautiful, caring yet powerful

I will be basing my designs on the bear hoods I have made previously, but will be adding contrast coloured stripes around the body section, and reworking the ear patterns for different shapes (this may require some experimentation) - some of the ears will also be double layered (eg the mouse will have pink lining)

I have no particular time scale, I know that each hood tends to take about a week but I may work on other projects in between - and especially I will have to take pauses to wait for yarn deliveries as in some cases I am using leftovers and I'm not sure how much extra I will need to order. They all need to be done by christmas, that's all the time constraint I'm giving myself!
