Willing to personal swap for art of my doggies!

I made this recently for legatostroke for the Craft my Pet Swap that is going on right now.  After she sent me pictures of her dogs, I looked at the one of her dog Nugget and thought he had a perfect face for making into a carved stamp.  I edited it into a a stencilized image, reversed it and printed it out on a laser printer in the size I wanted.

I was going to try to hand draw the image of Nugget onto my stamp carving material, but then I had an idea.  I had used an orange oil to transfer images onto clothe, wood, and other things before, and thought I would try it to transfer the image onto the stamp material - and it worked!! (more about it here)

It transferred a really nice image onto the material and it made carving it out so much easier - I was able to do most of it in one evening!  I was very happy with the end result (bar a couple of little mistakes).

I stamped several times with it to try to see where I could clean the image up more, and after finishing it, I decided to use it to make two finished pieces to send to legatostroke as well, as crafted extras.

This is a 9x12 canvas that I painted with a sky-like background.  I stamped Nugget in several different colours, and trimmed them out.  I used gel medium to attach each one onto the canvas, and went over them all with another layer of gel medium to smooth it out more.  I added one of my test prints to the back as part of the title and signature - I called it Nugget - Nine Ways (+1).

Also, I took the Nugget stamp, and inked him with a nice brown ink, and printed him several times onto a tan paper, and cut those out to make some note cards - a set of a half dozen, in tan/blue.  I loved the combination of the colours.  I added some plain beige envelopes to couple with them.

What can I say - I was thrilled how he turned out!  I was half tempted to keep him, but it would just be wrong, especially as he was not my dog!

it's the concentrate you have to use.  I used a product called Orange TKO, another one is Citrasolv.  I am wondering if GooGone is a similar product too.

Very cool. Nice technique, too. So personal! The print really does look a lot like the dog in question. You sent the stamp to her as well, right?

Thanks everyone.  I had so much fun making copies, I had to admit that I had a strong desire to keep the stamp, but that would have been selfish, especially as Nugget is legatostroke's dog, and it would mean more to her, so yes, I sent it to her as well, which was my original intention.

However, now I really want to make some of my three.  I just hope I have a pic of each of them that will translate well to a stencil/stamp pattern.

Oh yes, in case anyone doesn't know, I use the stencil generator link that someone else shared here years ago...

http://strix.org.uk/stencil/

I have used that one dozens of times to make stencils.
