Lexophile (n):  A lover of words, especially in word games, puzzles, anagrams, palindromes, etc.

Ever since I was young, I have been a voracious reader.  My main form of catharsis over the years has been writing.  Words, words, words.  I can't get enough of them.  I find more enjoyment in learning about etymology of words than I do learning about the life story of most people.  I love archaic words, obscure words, and words that just sound nice as they roll off the tongue.

Do you have a favorite word or favorite catchphrase?  Do you love to play Scrabble from dusk until dawn?  Do Shakespearean insults bring you unfathomable ecstasy?  Was your favorite birthday present an unabridged dictionary?

I want to see if anyone else has an interest in this particular facet of nerdiness.  I feel like this sort of swap could go a lot of places.  I don't think it would be at all limiting.

ME ME ME!!  I am definitely in LOVE with words!  I play Scramble with Friends, Words with Friends, Scrabble, Ruzzle, Ruzzle Adventure, Dropwords, Disney Words of Wonder....  Yeah, I love words.  Linguistics was my most favorite class in college, so much so I took advanced linguistics just for the fun of it!  I would so be in for this!

This will be my first time organizing a swap.  I think even if we have a small turnaround, I will do it.

I'm so excited!

While I would love to do this (I've decided I will do NaNo again this year, after a few years off), I won't have an open slot until... probably September. But I'll stalk the gallery and pin and hope for a round 2 if it's sooner!

Yes, I play Scrabble on my phone while waiting in line. Yes, i try to finish the Weds - Sun NYT crossword puzzle. Yes, my sister made me a desk name plaque with Scrabble letters. Yes, I buy old Scrabble games and dream of the day I could cover a table, a wall or the exterior of a house with the tiles.

So, yes to this swap. But timing is everything and I want to organize a few other swaps in August and September.

It seems like a lot of you would be game if I organized this in mid-September.  That way, we could hash out a swap before the Halloween awesomeness in October.

Does that sound good?

Add Taboo to the word game list. September would be a stupendously fine time, but this obviously will not be a swap for any knotty-pated, sodden-witted, dull-brained, logger-headed gecks. "Looking forward to this," thus saith the former English teacher. Wink
