I have an old can of Barge All Purpose Cement.
It's used for gluing leather, wood, fabric -- all kinds of crafts.
It's gotten very goopy -- so much so that I can't easily spread it anymore.
What's odd is that barge cement thinner seems more expensive than the cement.
Surely there is a less-expensive alternative.

I'd be grateful for informed methods.

how about a little nail polish remover? It's a lacquer thinner
The only thing, it may alter the cement's bonding abilities
