hey there...i've been lurking on this site for a long time, and decided to finally get my act together and post something. i made a clock out of an lp a long time ago....i think it looks pretty neat. it was for my boyfriend, so i made a vespa stencil (he really likes those). i couldn't bring myself to use a record i actually liked...it seemed too cruel. so i got a $.25 barry manilow album and spray painted it with a glossy avacado green paint, and then added big dots for the 12., 3, 6, and 9 hours, and then a border of little dots. it looks great, and it only took a few hours (including paint drying time).

it looks really good and i like the green color!!!

am i just having trouble seeing the dimensions... did you spray paint the entire record OR is it just the inset where the paper part is on a record???
for some reason i am having trouble seeing it exactly... it looks like to me you painted just the paper inset and then cut the record into a square...

oh nono....it's sitting on top of a black table....the whole circle is the record. i spraypainted the whole thing, including the inset.  so it's still a circle, i didn't do any cutting. thanks!

I really like the scooter stencil.  Did you use a kit for the clock "guts" or did you harvest the organs of a thrift store clock?

I'm pretty sure that Walmart sells them, or if you do a net search, there's a whole catalog of clock stuff (don't remember what it's called) that you can get for free, but it's higher priced and you have to pay shipping.
