I love dolls and I love crocheting them. I've found a basic doll body pattern and would love to make one of my favorite characters out of it. But I don't know how to make clothes without a pattern. I've never made a sweater or anything for myself, so I'm not sure I could wing it. Are there any tutorials or helpful hints anyone can share with me?

I don't know of any tutorials, but I do know that I was nervous to make my first piece of clothing too but I just went for it and it turned out pretty good. If you already have the ami made you can kinda form the clothes around it.

I absolutely love love quilts, do you think an afghan is a fair trade for a quilt? I'd love to swap!

I'm just not sure about sleeves and stuff.  I can make a sleeveless dress for my dolls, but I've never done anything with sleeves.  I'd like to make jackets and sweaters.

Oh well if you can do the whole dress then the sleeves is the easy part! Just crochet around the hole you have for the arm evenly and just keep going and going until the length you want.

Oh, that sounds easy enough.  So basically I would just make straps for a sleeveless dress (or top), attach them, then crochet around to make sleeves, right?  Thanks!
