Portrait sculpture of race driver Juan Manuel Fangio nearly ready for digital scanning (the eyes need to be painted white and the clay powdered).  Features are exaggerated and simplified to read at 1:32, 1:24, 1:43 scales for slot cars.  For my husband's company, Immense Miniatures.

Wow!  I'm especially impressed that you were able to capture a likeness cleanly and with expression (the artistic kind I mean, not the facial kind!) without it being caricature-ish.

Thanks!   Smiley  It's hard to decide on a facial expression for these drivers, because so often in photos they're scowling intensely on the track, or they're smiling and goofing off with their fellow drivers when not driving.  I want there to be a variety of expressions without too much of the boring "neutral" expression. I'm actually much more comfortable sculpting in a more fantastical style, so these are quite a challenge.

Here he is after being digitally scanned and rendered in the computer with his gear by my husband; this file will be 3D printed at small scale for slot car driver figures.

Isn't that cool?  My husband constructs all the helmets, goggles and caps in Zbrush, working from historic photographs.  He seems to have nearly infinite patience for this sort of thing.. Shocked
