It has been a while since I posted on Craftster. I've had a lot of health troubles in the last 18 months and for a while I could not craft at all. I have been wanting to share this project here because it is the first project I was able to make after my troubles and I think it actually turned out really well.

I am a big fan of the show Doctor Who, both old & new, and, in order to attend the 50th anniversary screening in theaters in style, I made myself this bag:

I quilted the swirls and the TARDIS using glow in the dark thread. The strap is black belting with brass rings.

Here is the back (sorry about the angle):

I love that it has an extra pieced look to it due to the panel design of that fabric on the left.

Because the TARDIS is bigger on the inside I figured only the universe would do for a lining: You can see the small pocket I made for the hand sanitizer one always needs when going on adventures with a madman in a blue box.

I made up the pattern but it is basically just a simple rectangle. The clasp is magnetic. I used these fabrics: http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/481155 & the blue box fabric on the back is from the same site but it is apparently no longer available to purchase. I supplemented these expensive fabrics with pieces from my stash that matched.

Thanks for looking! I hope you enjoyed my bag.  Smiley

Have not seen much Dr. Who. But recognized the front face piece of your purse.

Vincent van Gogh. Painted in June 1889, it depicts the view outside  ...
‎Starry Night Over the Rhone.

Very lovely purse. I like your blend of features.

Thank you both! Yeah, stillatthetop, I am familiar with the original Van Gogh painting, he is one of my favorite artists. There was a Doctor Who episode where the Doctor and his companion meet Vincent Van Gogh in the last couple years of his life that is absolutely enchanting, it is one of my favorite episodes. When I saw the fabric that incorporated the TARDIS into the Van Gogh starry night painting I knew that would be my statement fabric. I get a lot of compliments when I'm out wearing the purse that are directed at the painting rather than the blue box floating in its whorls.

I really like this! I bet that glow-in-the-dark thread is really cool in low light. Smiley
