I made this with a gauze type fabric, all seams serged. It has a keyhole back with 2 button closure. I had trouble getting the facing to fit so i had to redraft it.

I have been looking at this top pattern and was wondering if you like the hem while on...sometimes the pattern is nicer than when you make it...does it drape well in back?

Do those sleeves fit well and do you think they can be made longer?

It is really pretty and looks so cool for summer. Also, you fabric is really pretty!

I really love view A...

I am a size 22 in rtw, it fits me well in the upper part and it is flowy around my hips. I am not sure if i like the way it looks with the angled hem. I feel like it emphasizes my wide hips.

I think drape will depend on the fabric, i would use like a gauze, linen, challis, and some rayons. It says jerseys but it would have to be like a burnout or really slinky knit. View b i think sleeves longer would not work but view c yes.

They have it listed as a beginner pattern but frankly the facings stumped me so I did them my way. I am no beginner and it was a bit of a challenge, until i redrafted the facing.

Thanks for your response...I was wondering if the hem hit right at my fullest part as well...I could lengthen it a bit...it is always nice to see the made up item and not just the pattern pictures...and to talk to someone who went through making it.

I think depending on your height ( i am 5' 8" ) that might help to lenghten it. The front hem hit middle of my zipper on my jeans and looked right but man oh man I am all hips. So I will only wear this around home.

lol that is exactly where I DON'T want it to hit!  It is so hard to find tops that hit exactly, so i guess that is why we sew...my problem is that I usually end up with way more clothes to wear around the house and not enough to wear out! Grin

thanks for letting me know, I also have "wide hips" so I always wonder how various styles will suit them.

Pretty top!  I love how it is longer in back too - great for when I am sitting at my desk, bending, etc. and don't have the back of the top easing up.

Wondering about the hit-the-hips issue (my biggest problem area)... could more of a sloped angle help with that?  Keep the front length where it is, but lengthen/steepen the slope where it transitions from front to sides?  My line of thought is to (not just lengthen the back part but) create a slightly more vertical line, similar to how princess cut patterns draw the eye up and down.
