I'm well pleased with everything about my butterfly except the colors.  I captured the image from "Free Clip Art" & printed it as large as possible on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper.  After tracing the details on a slab of fresh clay, I cut it out & shaped it using paper wads as support.   When it was leather hard, I carved in the details & painted it over all before the first firing.  Before the second firing I used a dark green glaze to add definition to the carving.  A final transparent gloss finished it.
I dont care for the colors but fully intend to make more butterflies before very much longer.

I can see what you mean about the color but I think it is very pretty.  Hope to see more butterflies soon.
