I made this little bird and bird nest for a Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine Wired/Mixed-Media Assemblage reader challenge. Whew. I have been working on this for several months, it just would not come together, but with the deadline looming (Sept. 5th) I finally finished and photographed it. Finalists will be posted on the 12th!

The wire bird nest is constructed of salvaged wire from wire-bound manuals, cherry wood sticks, raffia and strung beads. It is lined with milk weed pod silk and three tiny wire wrapped egg-jewels snuggle inside. Mama bird is hand-stitched from hand-made paper fabric with bent wire legs. Overall size is about 4x4x6 inch.

This is so beautiful. I love everything about it. The dear little eggs and the lovely blue mother bird sitting in the beautiful white fluffy nest.  I do so hope you win.

So pretty! I love that you made the nest white.
It looks like something you would find in a fairy garden.

Thank you all. The wire for the nest was from recycling wire bound course books and started out white. I pulled the wire out from the binding and of course said "I must be able to use that!". It sat around my craft room for months. Makes me so reluctant to thrown things away! Ever!

I like the fairy garden image.
