Been working through those alpaca fleeces I got. In May I was given one with the intent of cleaning it and spinning it and splitting the yarn I spin from it and then I bought 2 more blankets for 25$/each and then I got 3 more blankets and 1 whole fleece for 5$ a pop. Totally finished with cleaning/carding the first one, Brownie, which was a light brown. Each batt looks like this:

And I got 21 batts from the whole thing. No idea on weight. I'll measure that out after I spin. Here is the milk crate I'm taking with me to the market tomorrow to spin up:

And here is the first batt I've spun up. I tried dizzing the fiber off the drum carder but don't think it's right for this fiber, at least not without some blended colors, so I spun it so I wouldn't have to worry about how to keep it all together. It's hard with 3 kids and 2 fur babies!

And I've been working on the next fleece, Kuzco. I decided not to just leave it white though, so after washing I've been dyeing it with the leftover Easter dye. The first 2 nylon lingerie bags (that's what I wash in) full I dyed blue and the next 2 were green. I have orange, yellow, and pink left. I'm worried about the pink, but I think I may have some Wilton's dye I can throw in to help it. I'm also wanting to get 4 bags of white plain and then card them all together and make some Unicorn Poop yarn. We will see how it all goes. Here is the blue and green coloring so far.

And here is what the table in my ballroom looks like right now:

I much prefer cleaning raw alpaca to raw sheep's wool!

Wow! This is such an amazing thing you fiber people do. Every time I read one of these posts, I'm just in awe. I think I may need to spend a weekend with you, Jexxi, to learn how you do this stuff!  Maybe some year....  Wink

Thanks everyone! Nobody else has anything to share this week, though? Bummer!
Rodelphia, YES! We bought this house last September and I am still in awe about it. There used to be a "terrace" but they closed it in back in I think 1963. Previous owners called it the "great room" or the "sum room" but we prefer to call it the Ballroom. The only thing in there is a baby grand piano, that we bought with the house. It is great parties (we have 3 kids so lots of birthday parties) and even spinning group. Our spinning group is meeting here again this month and I'm so excited! Just not about sweeping before hand, ug. We have yet to have a ball in it but someday we will. Someday. (you're all invited Wink)

Thats too cool. Smiley
I have yarn! The pictures are kinda icky but it shows the color pretty well. Its some art roving I pullef during nap time and spun a couple days ago. I've been calling it Rarity (like from My Little Pony) because of the color and sparkles. Its got merino, alpaca, angelina, mohair curls, and the blue is firestar. Smiley Im spinning some 100% alpaca to match so I can make a shawl with it.

Well done, Rodelphia! Lovely!

Jexx, I just didn't have time to post yesterday Wink

TdF fun - Spinning my own socks (which is also my level 3 final project)

And a minor distraction while washing wool... dye!
Rainbow dyeing dirty locks - vinegar, wool wash and water in the pot with the locks.  I sprinkled red, yellow and blue dyes over the fleece, poked it in and let it do it's thing! this is what happened!

I've had these cotswold locks forever... but since I was dying to dye something these were the first things that went in...

And about 8 ounces of merino top, into 1/2 of the left over dye bath (since it didn't exhaust) looks like this:

and the other half, I put dry merino into, and added some teal dye on top.  There wasn't enough purple in the dye bath, but I still like how this turned out!

So I guess I've been busy!

That thick and thin looks so good Rodelphia. The colors are very pretty. I see a unicorn! I bet it would look great in a shawl. I'm excited to see the FO.

Belladune, I knew you had been busy. I see your blog. Love it! Those locks came out great. The variations in even just the purple are pretty rad. The "rainbow dye" I bet will make something really cool.
