My partner in the Enchanted Forest swap, La Chapa, said some of her favorite forest critters are moths. This MAQ started to form in my head - a white moth on some kind of foresty background.

I ended up using Eudeilinia herminiata as my reference moth, with three different white patterns in the body and wings, and paint for the grey spots.

I added in some metal charms, and had a different embroidered quilting for each strip of fabric on the background.

One of the strips got painted dots, and another got beads, but mostly it was embroidery.

I used http://www.embroidery.rocksea.org/reference/picture-dictionary/ for embroidery reference, and it was great as always!

The antennae were especially fun to do!

This was my first try at a mini art quilt, and I definitely think I'm going to do more!

This is beautiful! Against your white wall, it almost looks like the moth is a cut-out. I love how you hung it too. Really nice!

Absolute perfection. I would want this somewhere where I could see it every morning to start my day. It's like my inner heart made of cloth. Breathtaking!
