Happy 4th, my American friends!

This monstrous amount of yarn is finally finished!

Yarn things- July 3 2014 by SpinHeartSpin, on Flickr

3lbs of merino! spun bulky, and yielding about 600 yards.  That's like 200 yards per pound! Chunky chunky stuff!

At Fibre Week, in Master Spinner level 4, we had a dye day, these are the results!

We played with acid dyes! mixing up primary colours, and got the rainbow and a gradient of colours.  the only colours I didn't get a picture of was the gradients done by taking the yarns out in timed intervals.

Oh my gosh that merino looks AMAZING!! I want to squoosh it. Tongue
I've actually been spinning a lot lately, and have had some spare time to experiment with all the alpaca fleece I have. I was aiming for fluffy and crazy so i just grabbed piles of uncarded fluff and spun from it. Turned out awesome and very soft.

And a tamer version

Here are the batts I got in the fiber swap, spun into singles. Love the sparkles!

And finally a two ply merino, started as a roving that i dyed.

Being a stay at home mom is certainly giving my wheel a workout! Smiley

I read about your giant yarn on the your blog, Belladune. Very cool! And I still love learning with you and seeing your homework and stuff. Those dyed yarn are great. Still terrified to try acid dyes, but I have some so some day I will get there. For now I will soak in as much info as I can from you and your life.

Rodelphia, So much! That first funky alpaca is great. And those 2 you got from the fiber swap I think would look great worked up into the same project. They work so well together.

I've been going through that bag of Alpaca fleece I think I showed you guys a few weeks ago. Started drumming it up the other night so I could show you now but I don't have pics so darn. I'm hoping to get it all carded before market starts next Saturday. I have 2 more blankets to go through, though they are white and this was brown, and I will probably be getting like 5+ more on Monday, hopefully. We will see how that works out. There was a farm here that was just trying to get rid of their alpaca fleeces so they were selling the blankets for $25/each and now they are just wanting to get rid of it and Susan said there are 16 bags left they are selling for $100 for the lot. My friend is getting them and we are going to split them up Monday. Wish me luck, eep!
