I have been doing random art abandonment for a few years now and find that it is really a great way to  satisfy my creative urges while maybe giving someone a bit of a bright spot...I have a separate email account for anyone who wishes to say something about things they might find..people mostly want to learn about it so I have set up a standard reply....it will be more fun to see what other people make and find new ways to abandon items Grin

I think I will start tonight!

OOH!  That sounds cool...I'm old and not teck savvy...can you explain instagram and how it works to me please?  Is it the one that is like twitter but in pictures?..oh wait...I think I'm thinking about Vines...

Instagram is a picture app (vines is videos). You can upload your pictures (there are a variety of filters you can apply to enhance the picture) and mention other Instagram users- for instance a caption might say "a fun summer day with @suereal!" And it would notify you that you've been mentioned and its link to your account. Or you can tag something in the picture itself. You can use tags to search throughout all of Instagram for pictures with the same tag. That would look like "a fun summer day with @suereal! #truefriends #summerdays". This hash tag would link to a search of images using the same tag.

So a card with an art abandonment project might read "Hi! I was made for you stranger! I'm here to make you smile.

If you have an Instagram feel free to post a picture of me in my new home. You can mention my maker @amazingalex or tag me with #abandonedart or #randomactofkindness"

Hope that makes sense!

Urban Threads encourage this with the Giving Bunny - http://www.urbanthreads.com/tutorials.aspx?t=The+Giving+Bunny+Project. I downloaded the pattern, but that is as far as I got.  Undecided

That bunny pattern is really cool! Thanks for linking the pattern! I might have to make a couple to leave at restaurants, parks, and on the train. Where else are people thinking of leaving their abandoned art?

Those bunnies are adorable!  I love the idea of abandoned art.  I did it on a recent road trip and left an email on the back.  Out of seven pieces, one person wrote a thank you.  It was not necessary but nice.  I love being able to brighten another's day

Thanks AmazingAlex.  That helped a lot Grin.  It sounds like a smart phone thingy and my phone is dumb Grin

seeuudee--I downloaded the giving bunny last year some time and promptly forgot about it.  So thanks for the reminder Grin

Maybe this would help me to get moving on my blog again.  Then folks could post comments there....or get me Etsy going again and use that email for this project.  I've been weeding out all the spamish things from my regular email and am enjoying not getting 30 emails a day Grin

I think I wold drop them off at parks and libraries.  It might be fun to have a bunch when I go visit my folks again and drop them off in little towns the whole way.

Yeah it's more of a smartphone thing but they do have a website you can go on and sign in/search tags but an email would probably work just as well! And I love the idea of leaving some at the library! I can just see one poking out of the shelves in the children's aisle!

And then one doesn't have to worry about the weather getting them before the humans do Grin
