So Limeriot mentioned this idea in another thread, and I pounced on it! Smiley Who would be interested in participating in an abandoned art craftalong?

Here is the general idea:
Call it abandoned art, random acts of craftiness or some other phrase. The idea is leaving art behind for someone else to find. You will help brighten their day. Expose them to a handmade gift that they can keep. Open them up to helping art in their community. Etc.!

A few ideas behind this:
* Expose others to your art/craft, and having it live a life beyond its creator.
* It's a way of sharing work with an unsuspecting patron. In this day and age when money is tight, people can own art of their own. And this is a way of encouraging folks to stay involved in the arts locally.
* This is good random kind act. Make someone's day.
* It is fun and addictive.

This is how we can do our craftalong:
* All you have to do is make a piece of art.  (As simple or as complicated as you like)
* Write a little note on it explaining that it is a gift.
* In the note mention that if the finder would like to share info about its fate they can contact you directly via email.  Then you can share the info with us here.  If you have an Etsy, storefront or website include that. Even a business card if you have one.
* Photograph what you're leaving behind. Leave it, and walk away before anyone sees you!
* Share your location and photo of your gift with the rest of us.
It's kind of like a secret swap. You don't know who your partner is or anything about them, except you want to give them a present.

(Thank you to Art Abandonment, for info)

I've never heard about the art project! I know about the one, where people leave handmade toys for kids to find (I really want to do this one, still- maybe we could do that craftalong, too?) -love the projects linked here and the comments left by the lucky people who found them!

I love any random acts of kindness Smiley

I've been wanting to do this for awhile now.  A craft along would help for sure.  One of the kids I used to nanny and I would paint rocks and then leave them around in the city park for folks to find.  But I like the idea of making it more "official".  The next few months are going to be hectic for me, but it sounds like a great fall project...specially since I just got a bunch of free fabrics recently;D

I'd definitely be interested.  I participated in the art abandonment swap http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=412246.0#axzz36XGzAAY5 .

It was a good challenge for me to just send things out into the world and not know where they ended up.  I didn't include an email address, just accepted the not knowing.

Yeah...I'm kind of torn about that....maybe if I create a email address just for this project.  With my luck I would get a stalker LOL.  But if I get my Etsy shop running again, it would be good advertising...

One of the 100 goals of 100 things this year was art abandonment!  I've already left about 50 ATCs (some made by me, some not), a few dozen Operation Beautiful cards, and lots and lots of cranes, but I was thinking about making some Giving Bunnies, too.

And I participated in the Art Abandonment swap, too, and it was fun!

This sound really fun! I think I'd set up an Instagram where someone could mention/tag whatever I left.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

This is fantastic, and a solution to a dilemma that began yesterday. We were at the hairdresser, for the purpose of my two youngest to have their long locks chopped off for charity, and after Twin 1 had received her "bob" we were told that the gentleman before her had paid for her haircut. Art abandonment will help me fulfill the urge to pay it forward, hopefully, and maybe make someone smile like I did yesterday.
