This year I decided to enter a doily at the County Fair.  This pattern was from Magic Crochet #15.  There aren't many square pineapple doily patterns out there so when I saw this one I had to try.  Unfortunately the pineapples didn't stretch out the way I hoped and some sections don't have enough space between the stitches.  Not my best work but it was a challenge using size 30 thread and a size 11 hook.  The project took 2 months to crochet.  Hopefully someone will be inspired to try their own hand at thread crochet.

Thanks for looking any help will be gratefully accepted.

Very pretty! I can't see my stitches with anything finer than #20 so I greatly admire those who can!

Today I picked up my Fair projects and my doily won first place.  There was tough competition this year.  Second place was a filet crochet with the image of the Virgin Mary.  The filet piece was amazing!  All I can figure out is that I won because of using finer thread.  Well now to start planning a project for next year.

Thanks

Thank You!  Inspiring people is the reason that I post the work I've done.  Over thirty years ago I got on a bus and started crocheting on my current doily.  A lady who was around 80 started talking to me about crocheting.  She said "I didn't know anyone crocheted doilies any more, I remember watching my mother make them".  In the time since then I have made many doilies but unfortunately they have declined even further.  So I hope that you will try making your own doilies and inspire others before they go the way of tattng and bobbinlace.
