Beware the power of my Sonic Seam Ripper!

I was lucky enough to be partnered with jillybeans in the recent Altered Spool Swap.  One of her themes was "Spooky", and while it wasn't what I initially planned on going with, the spool seemed to take me in that direction on it's own.  Cheesy

It was stained black with wood stain markers, highlighted with silver Sharpie, covered in striped scrapbook paper and a beautiful jeweled spider that I received from pinkleo.  The back has a lucky/unlucky 13.  I added a metal clock face and a stone skull bead wearing a crown on top, and a tassel of crazy yarn, ric-rac, embroidery floss and ribbon hanging from the bottom.  In the tassel I hid a skeleton key and several heart shaped black Hamsa beads.

The pictures are courtesy of jillybeans.   Kiss

It's a beauty, for sure!  I need to make a hanging spool now.   Smiley

Thanks ladies!  I had found a bunch of spools in my stash a few years ago, and brought them into work at my costume shop.  I asked each student to decorate one with ribbon, trim, buttons, flowers, etc, and we hung them all on the sewing themed Christmas tree.  (Trimmed with a tape measure as garland, and a star covered in thimbles.)  Now I wish I had pictures of those ones, as we made all of them hanging spools too.

Such a great idea for an ornament, whether it be holiday themed or otherwise. I love all the baubles and details!

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

I've always loved spool ornaments, and this one is one of the best! The Halloween theme is excellent, and it's beautifully executed. Nice work!
