I just won this book on eBay- it was printed in 1948!

Some of the chapters are: Lovely dolls anyone can make, How to make doll houses and miniature furniture, Building model planes that fly, Plastic craft as a hobby, The art of soap sculpture, Weave your own baskets, Decorating textiles as a hobby, Working with leather, Metalcraft for fun and profit, Easy weaving on small looms, and much, much more! There are 310 pages in this book and every page is packed with information on various hobbies and crafts. There are lots of pictures and illustrations to go along with the text so that you can see what is being described.

I should have the book by the end of the week. If anyone is interested in some of the how-tos and wants copies of the instructions, let me know!

I tried scanning a few different ways..the paper is so old and yellowed and the binding is so tight that I get tons of shadow that is near impossible to clean up...

What I'll do is what I did for the Portfolio tutorial- type the text and scan the pics...

Look for it soon under paper crafts..lol...

Does the nun doll have a pattern for the habit, I had a Nun doll when I was little and I'd love to make a habit for one of my vintage dolls...I'd be willing to trade something for it, I collect doll patterns as well as vintage doll fashion patterns, the 18 to 22 inch fashion dolls.......

wow that book sounds incredible!  If you ever  have mulitple requests for the knotting and/or netting chapters I would love to see them!  It sounds like quite an undertaking though.   If you make anything for the book please post a pic ! Smiley

i'd be interested in the dollhouse section, but I don't want to make you type it all - -is there any way to make copies and mail them? I'd reimburse for shipping, etc.

I have this book!!!  (Can't remember whether I got it at a thrift store when I was in college or if it was given to me by a friend who shares my interest in both old books and doing things by hand.)  Will check the copyright date but the title and chapters noted so far are the same and so are the photos.  Sure never expected to see it anywhere else!

Sounds like mine may be in better condition so I'll see if I can scan it, but it might be better photocopied.  Wouldn't want to copy the whole book, but if a few people wanted individual chapters....  (ritabelle, PM me with your address and I'll send you the dollhouse chapter.)
