So a while back I embarked on the journey of the knit 4th doctor scarf. I'm nearing the last few rows, and I know I need to block it, but I haven't blocked anything quite so long before. For those unfamiliar, the scarf will be approximately 8 feet or so long before blocking. The whole thing is knit in Vanna's Choice (100% acrylic). What's the best blocking method for me to use for the piece? Normally for smaller things I would pin them to my ironing board and steam with a hovering iron, but the scarf is longer than the board :/

For acrylic anything, just wash and dry it in the dryer. That will even out the sts which is all that steaming will do too, and it probably needs to be washed anyway after making it to that length. Put it in a pillowcase or mesh bag to keep it from tangling up or stretching out in the washer. The steam created in the dryer will be enough to relax and set the stitches too, you don't have to use a steamer or iron to do that.
