The local Fair is in July and I am working to finish the projects.  Three of my entries will be paper cutting under the miscellaneous category.  Our local Fair only has scrapbooking under paper arts.  I've contacted the Fair and they are going to add more paper options next year.  But for this year I wanted to do something special so here is one of the Polish style cuttings I'm entering.

The cutting is 6.75 inches in diameter.  I needed it small enough to fit a frame so instead of reducing the size on the copier I left off the outer edge.  It came out so delicate without a solid edge and weighs almost nothing.  I hope to inspire others to try this ancient tradition of cutting paper.

Thank you Linakins!  I was stressed yesterday and paper cutting is very relaxing.  This was cutting number 103 since I started in January.  Your package is on its way and if a paper cutting happened to slip into the box it is your problem now!

This is lovely! We eat sometimes at a Polish restaurant that has many traditional cut paper figures on the walls, but nothing as delicate as this. I hope the Fair's scrapbookers are suitably overwhelmed!

Thank you Wulf.  Wow, what luck having a Polish restaurant.  The Polish paper cutting come in two types.  One is a lacy style and the other is cut in layers of different colored papers.  Very beautiful paper cutting but not a great deal of information on them.  Paper cutting is something that every culture with paper does, it is truly borderless.

SenatorOrgana thank you for your kind remarks.  The cuttings are both delicate but done with few errors they can be stronger than they look.  Unfortunately I lost this cutting and cannot find it anywhere.  I have a bad habit od pressing the cuttings in books and forgetting which ones I used.  Well it will be a great surprise to someone in 50 years.
