i inherit books & patterns every so often from my grandmother, and one of the last times i was there she handed me some freebie patterns she got from magazines that she thought i would get some use of since i have friends that are having babies.  when i got an invite to a baby shower, i turned to those and found this gem of a pattern.  simple, but fun, i am quite pleased with how this one came together quickly and awesomely.  this was the last of three baby quilts i started, but the first of three that i finished.  they've really helped me get my quilting skills perfected.  not brave enough to do anything fancy just yet, but getting closer to that step!

This quilt is so bright and happy! Another beautiful quilt from you. I love the addition of yellows and oranges so that it isn't an overwhelmingly pink baby girl blanket.

Wonderful color mix!

The pattern is simple but looks very complicated...I also love how your quilted it simply...my kind of quilt: lovely, fast, simple, bright and colorful!

the pieced binding helped tie this all together. it was one of my favorite parts of it Smiley

aw thanks!
i totally agree on the colors.  usually i change things a bit from the pattern shown, but i just couldn't bring myself to see this quilt in any other color.
plus, pink & puple color combos are way too typical anymore Wink

That IS a very pretty quilt. I love the colors, too. And a very interesting binding. I have never thought to do them that way. I know baby's Momma will love it! And later it can be used as a wall hanging for baby {toddler} girls room, when she "outgrows" it. Or it just might end up her favorite "binkie" and she will not outgrow it.  Grin She just might take it to college! I know I would...for a lap blanket/stadium throw. Roll Eyes

thanks so much!
i've been way appreciating these smaller quilts that have given me a lot of practice time on my quilting lines Smiley

it turned out to be bigger than i expected, but that's always good in this case so that it can be used for many many years Smiley
