Not sure about those brands you mentioned, so hopefully someone can chime in. I personally use a couple different Singer machines & have nothing but good things to say about them.

Both are very good brand names. I would check each model and see what it offers and compare to what your needs are.

Both are excellent. Usually the Janome is more expensive but usually worth it. You have to decide what you want the machine to do for you.

If you are new at sewing then these look like more than you could want or need. You could really grow with these machines. I don't know which one I'd rather pick. In my area, I'd probably pick the Brother because of parts and repairs but would dream of a Janome. Hope this helps.

but which one is better in terms of reliability i am inclined towards janome dc4030(aus $599) but the brother nx400 has more features (stiches and cut thread feature(aus $699) )  Undecided .....so which 2 buy for long term??.. i have read not so gud reviews of nx200 but there is little info about nx400 on the web ...while consulting with the store they say both are gud so lot of confusion ....the price of brother dropped from 1199 to 699 which created doubts about the quality of the brother nx400..... Lips sealed Embarrassed

Then I personally would just get the cheaper one because from what I've seen online, they both are fine machines. (Are you buying first hand or are they used....also a huge difference.)
(Sorry to take so long to answer, I'm in the middle of cooking lunch.) I would also suggest that do not buy (anything) while being pressured for a quick decision. If they can't wait a few more days with the same price then I'd be suspicious. Let us know which machine you decide on.
