So, my 17th wedding anniversary was over a month ago.  I didn't have any money to get my husband anything, and neither did I really want to make anything for him either.  I felt kind of bad about it.  He got me some tomato plants and some squash plants.  He knows how much I love to garden.  Then, today being Father's Day, again I didn't really want to make him anything, or buy him anything.  But, my husband got me flowers for Mother's Day, because he knows how much I love flowers.  Makes me sound like a real b*tch w/a capitol B doesn't it?  It's a long story I won't go into.  So, feeling bad about not giving him anything either time, inspiration hit me, and I was in the mood to paint.  I already had 3 of these smaller canvas'.  So, I sat down and painted.   The 1st one is, "A boy and his dog."  It's an angel boy holding his dog.  I painted it using acrylics.  It's an eskimo boy.  My husband went on a cruise to Alaska w/his grandpa before I met him.  I gave him this one for our wedding anniversary.  The second one is a pet portrait of his pomeranian, also done in acrylics.  I gave him this one for Father's Day.  He got them both today.  He wasn't real thrilled w/the 1st one, but, loved the 2nd one of his pomeranian.  Sometimes I don't even know why I try.  He had been gripping at me, saying I don't make anything for him anymore.  Well, this just might be the reason.  Anyhow, I hope you all like them.  Enjoy.

The pomeranian looks really alive. I am betting it is a good likeness of your husband's dog and maybe more special to him because of that.   The angel boy and his dog are my favourite. I love their expressions and also the colours you used.

Sometimes the ones we love are our harshest critics...don't let it get you down...continue your art for yourself...I love your art because you can tell you were in the moment while you were painting...you paint with passion, so don't let that die!

I love the contrast in the first one but I really love the folk art style of the second one...if hubby does not like it, I would, erm, maybe give it to someone who likes it... Grin.

Thank you all so much!  I will continue to paint.   I won't let my husband's negativity get me down.  I would love to paint for anybody who wants me to paint for them.  Just PM me.  I'm not super, wonderful, great at pet portraits, but, I'm getting there.  I've seen some pet portraits that were spot on.  My pet portraits seem to have more of a folk art/whimsical flare to them.  Smiley
