I have always been in love with vintage Botanical plates. ( scientific illustrations of flora and fauna etc) these could include flowers, fruit, bugs, butterfly's, vegetables etc
If you are not familiar with it please google it, they really are not only fascinating but beautiful.
I was thinking we would do a choice of painting, embroidery or cross stitch for this swap.
I will give it a go to host this but I will need a co organiser to help me.
Anyone interested? Looking at July sign ups.

I have always been fascinated with antique lithographs. I think they are remarkably beautiful! I, too, would be interested in this swap.  Smiley
What type of help co-organizing would you be in need of?

Yah, Im so glad there is interest Grin
As with a co organiser, I just need someone to basically help me through things i think. Ive never hosted before, so just a shoulder to lean on. If the swap is popular- say over 14 people I might need help keeping track of packages sent and recieved etc. I'm just about to read through everything needed for a host to do and print it off, so I will be prepared.

hey there again  Smiley
Yeah organizing a swap can be a bit intimidating at first, and definitely if its a large one! If you want, for your first one, you could make it a small limit of people, or do the no more than 24 thing so its not super small but not huge either. (I think you will have a lot of interest once posted as open on the craft swap board)
If you decide to do it, and still think you will be in need of possible help, let me know the time frame you are thinking of and if I am able I will try to help.
Also, maybe due to copy write, it would be a good idea to say that its 'inspired by' so everyone does their own rendition/take of one and not try to duplicate?  Huh

Interested!

This website claims that all its images are in the public domain and can be used for art. http://www.oldbookillustrations.com/  Not sure how any of these would translate into embroidery, but then again I don't really know jack about embroidery.  Smiley

Love this theme, but does It have to be so "medium" limited - I could think of fabulous ways to incorporate botanical themes into my work but I felt and upcycle.
I think one of my re-loved books would look fabulous with some botanical enhancements.

LATEST project - I'm compiling a "handed down" recipes boom and so if I get you in a swap, would you be so kind to find a recipe from your childhood. type it up - if you want to decorate, then please do :

Yes and this site http://vintageprintable.com/wordpress/botanical/ has also got free domain as well.
thankyou ' I'msoSilly' for offering to help, much appreciated. I just read through all the hosting stuff and think I should be okay..... But if it turns into a big swap I might need to call on you for some help. Wink
as soon as some feedback comes in that I'm waiting for, I promised to host the 'under the sea creature' swap. Once that one is all complete this will be the next swap I will host.
probably looking at early August.
P e s t - I will go with what the majority want. so if people comment on here that they would like to receive altered books or felted items then I will add it to the mediums list. I just made it embroidery, painting or cross stitch at this stage as those are particular things that I want personally and thought might be popular with others on this craft subject. But,  like I said if others agree and are happy to receive other mediums then that's cool with me!
