I'm drafting up a pattern for a new child's hat and tried it out on a sweater I found at a local thrift store.  The straps are made from the remnants of an old t-shirt.





I'm going to have another go, it's a bit slouchy up top for my liking  Smiley

Very nice idea.  I actually rather like the combination of the striped ties with the grey and the pink. Lovely and warm for the winter.
