I made these for my nephews after they asked for end of the year gifts for their teachers. This was a fun little project to put together. I first bought plain wood letters for the initial of the teachers last name. Sidenote: in the photos I have blocked out where it says the teachers full last name just so it isn't out there for everyone to see.  Smiley Then I spray painted each letter with chalkboard paint. After quite a few coats and lots of sanding in between I finally achieved a smooth surface that was easy to write on. The I took a thin scrap piece of wood that i already had around and drew apples on them. Cut them out by hand with a mounted jigsaw and then painted them with a multiple shades of red and white highlights. Used wood glue to attach them. The hot glued the string for hanging as well as attached multi colored chalk on a string. These could easily be replicated using any letter as well as for back to school gifts instead of end of school gifts. Smiley

Thank you! The nephews and the teachers both loved them.

And I apologize for the terrible quality in pictures. I forgot to take pictures before dropping them off  so I just used my iPhone instead.

What a lovely teacher's gift! A nice change from the eternal barrage of "best teacher" coffee mugs xD
