For our whole 13 year relationship, my husband has had no interest in getting creative with me. I always did it alone. All of a sudden, he has gotten inspired and we are a crafty team and I couldn't be happier. It's so exciting for me to have a partner in crime and he's proud of the sense of accomplishment. It's a win-win!!

So anyhow, we've been hitting up garage sales looking for cool things to redo. We came across this very old, very yucky bench. The fabric was gross and falling apart, but I saw the possibilities. My husband didn't, but he went along with it. So, we went to the fabric store and chose this pretty geometric fabric and went to work! We are so happy with how it turned out. It has a whole new life.

Whenever I buy old things, I like to imagine who owned them before. I love that these pieces have history. It makes me happy Smiley

Here's the dreaded 'before':

Here's my hubby hard at work:

Here's the 'after':

And here's a pic of my Mischa taking ownership:

Hope you enjoyed!

You are totally right, that blue fabric looks rather dated and old, and the new fabric you chose is so fab and fresh. It looks fantastic!  Cheesy

Fabulous makeover!!  It looks contemporary and useful, and yet, it has its history!  Many people have sat on that bench, and you have given it new life for more people to enjoy and use!

I love that your hubby is involved!  There is no happier time for me when my husband and I complete a home project together!  It is a lot of hard work, but you can take so much pride when it is done!

Can't wait to see more projects from a dynamic duo! Grin

What a great team you are.  I know how pieces having a history makes them more special. Love the fabric!

Love the print choice!
Looks like from a  mag now! Smiley

I loved it when Mr. got new pieces from thrift store to repaint, too (yup, all we did Tongue) - he's a carpenter and once in a blue moon makes things for the house. Would be fun to make things together, though.

Fabulous makeover! Wink
