alwaysinmyroom - your celestial squares are really lovely. That's a great theme.

Checking in Smiley
Haven't made a lot of progress so far this week, had a few very busy days where I didn't get even a single stitch done

Day 4:
Working on the background of the Pow square, you can see how I'm using alternative coloured cross-stitches for the background.  Most of the finished pictures of it just look like a dark blue instead of mid-blue/black mix.

Day 5:
Pow finished, working on the star with my age (27) in the middle.

Day 6:
Star finished, finished a complete square with chain-stitched heart and "J 4 A" lettering (my guy and my initials).
If I have time at the end, might give a bit more background colour to that one.

Currently working on a candle square, hoping to do a nice background effect.
Then I'll be looking at French knots as I've got just the square to show them with Smiley

I admire your tiny lettering!  This is going to become a very special piece for you...each square has a story!

I finished two more squares last night...not sure what I want to work on next, but I am sure inspiration will hit me after I cruise Craftster a bit more! Grin

So I think I have to do this, and I want to do little "books", so I'll make individual pages and then bind them into books... I'm thinking 2"x2", and binding them in 10 year increments.

But!

Do I go by calendar year, or age year?  I think I might have to decide based on how I can best cram everything I want to in there... I need to try to look through sine pictures and figure out when things happened.

Is anyone else doing a year-by-year one? I'm stumped with ages 1, 2, and 3... I don't remember much! Smiley

I am just doing things I like now with a few things to have some history...I plan on doing my birth country, my favorite country (other than the USA!), and some happy memories like my marriage, etc. Mostly random things I like...beach, palm trees, flowers, insects, etc.

Of course, everything is subject to change as the craftalong progresses... Grin

Come and join...it is a low pressure, do it when you can and you can always stop if you want when life gets hectic or throws you a curve ball!

I was originally going to do things by "age year", but I can't remember everything, especially stuff from when I was young and also my late teens early twenties.  Roll Eyes I figure I will do squares for what ever I can remember (and hope more stuff comes to me) and then fill the rest in with random things.

I actually managed to squeeze in three more squares...I will have to take a small break to do a major clean-up of our workshop/furnace room...seems like one of the cats dragged in something that died in there...we have to clear everything out to find it, as it stinks and the flies are all over! UGH!!!!!

Anyway, after that major gross thought, here are my completed squares so far:

Loving the progress Lilletia and always!!

I started a square last night but I'm not happy with it.

It's supposed to be a french knot spiral galaxy, but I feel like the whole thing just looks like a blob. I added the stitches around the knots to help provide definition to the spiral arms, but I feel like it just looks like a pile of fake vomit.

I need some of your awesome expertise! How can I add definition to the french knot section? Is my square a lost cause?
