I made this for Ludi after asking her to do the IYP Swap with me..

It's one of the largest and most complicated things I have ever sent away, but it was fun to make.  I rough sketched it from a pic off the internet.  I started with a felt base.  Most of the tentacles are fabric fused to felt then cut out and machine appliqued down.  I did a bunch of free motion work before applying the tentacles.  Some of them are stuffed to make them pop off the surface more.  The eye is a cool moiby vinal I got from Archie McPhee's.  His leather wings are a pair of thrifted black vinyl snake skin pants, there is some scrap velvet used for the wing spines.  The rest is quilt weight fabrics.  The main body is a goose camouflage fabric wich made me laugh the whole time I worked on it Grin

Cthulu is holding the planet in his hand, contemplating what to do next.  I painted his nails with glow in the dark paint...just because  Grin

Thanks for looking Grin

The amount of detail on this in person is truly impressive!  I love it tremendously.   Smiley

Here is Cthulhu by suereal next to Cthulhu by artsycandice in my upstairs hall where I will eventually have a larger display of Lovecraftian art:
