For the IYP 25 swap my partner Wulf asked for an embroidered pillow cover. After stalking his pinterest diligently I settled on making something with a celtic design and fell in love with a crow design. I printed it out at the appropriate size, used transfer paper to get it onto the fabric and then traced the design in permanent marker so it wouldn't rub off as I worked.

The finished design is just under 12 inches across. The main design uses satin stitch and was outlined with a chain stitch in blue. The entire design took approximately 20 hours of embroidery. I thought I'd never finish Smiley But at the same time it was fun to do. It's definitely going to be while before I tackle something this big again though.

That is so beautiful.  Did you embroider it on velvet?  I'm not surprised it took you so long.  I could hardly bear to part with something like that even to a good friend and partner.

Thanks! The material is upholstery fabric in a lovely velvety burgundy but not actual velvet. I've found velvet a pain in the butt to work with in the past and it attracts pet hair like nothing else Cheesy

I made the design with my partner Wulf in mind so it was easy to let it go because I knew it was going to a great home Smiley And after receiving my return package from Wulf I feel like I owe him a couple more pillows! You should nip over to the IYP 25 swap gallery and have a look. He made me a Hogwarts castle bird feeder fit for royalty.

I hadn't realised you were the lucky recipient of the amazing bird feeder.  I hope some day you can post some pictures of it covered in birds.
