I've been altering book pages for years, but recently I've been thinking more about the outsides of the books and the idea of them as sculptures. These are my first two altered book 'sculptures'... Smiley

The Earth's Secrets - with it's sealed contents remaining a mystery, just like archaeology hidden in the earth. There are flowers and shoots growing out of the book, and the pocketwatch represents the passing of time Smiley

The Butterfly - I like to think that it's been fluttering over flowers in meadows before it drifts on the breeze into the library and rests on this book.

This one has more things pressed between it's pages...

Thanks for looking! Smiley

Lovely - they make me curious about what's inside, so it is rather evil of you to seal them!  I love the patina on the first one.

I love them!

(Even though I am a book lover and usually not in favour of 'distroying' books. But over the years I've learned that some are beyond keeping.)

She's not destroyed the book, she's taken it to the next level of being XD

I think this is beautiful. I do agree that it is evil that you sealed up those goodies on the inside XD

I'm all for "book art". A few months ago I turned a copy of the Prisoner of Azkaban into a book safe. I've been using the guts for all kinds of things : paper roses, art doll dresses, for art cards. It's given me a whole new perspective on books XD

Thank you! Smiley

I have some books that I could never touch, they're too special, but some are definitely ripe for art-ing up! Cheesy

This is beautiful, Phizzy. Love the idea of reusing old books.

How awesome that your books both have secrets! Way to think "outside the book". Cheesy

These are so beautiful! It looks like you could have dug them out of some magic trunk luggage tucked away in an artist's attic Smiley. You are such a talented lady!
