My friend and I decided to dress up vintage style to go and see a play set in the '50s. I already had most of the things I needed for my outfit, but I felt like it really needed a head piece. What kind of lady would go out for the evening without her gloves and hat, after all? ~___^

I made the hat from a lid from a jar of plaster of paris, some scraps of satin, some tulle, and a long ribbon that I've saved since I got it wrapped around one of my wedding gifts ... four years ago. Let it never be said that I don't use the things I hoard! ~___^ I glued a hair comb to the inside of the hat, but I ended up putting in a couple of bobby pins to make sure it wasn't going to fall off. It was a really fun night, and now I have a fancy hat to wear ... hmmm, where *am* I going to wear this? ~___^

Your hat looks great!  That ribbon is something very special, it really adds a touch of retro elegance.

I might have to try the same technique when I'm in need of a pillbox hat Smiley

It really looks so very good on you; perfect for any night out, I should think.
