in the us, anything thicker than 1/4 is called a package...so depending on weight, it is still about $10 a pound to send overseas... Sad...

BLEHH!! That sucks!  Angry  Undecided  Huh

In the Netherlands if it fits the letter slot, it is considered a letter, it does also depend on weight, but it isn't very expensive. If it doesn't fit, it is considered a package and costs at least 18 euro to send to the USA (24 dollars, 2kg max) It is cheaper to send within Europe, that is half of the costs!

But it still sucks!! If I get it to fit an envelope I can send 250 grams - 2kg for 9 euro (12 dollars) and 100 -250 grams for 5 euro (4,5 dollars)!
That isn't too expensive, is it? Of course much cheaper to send within my country, but not much Dutchies here! (there are, I know!!)

You can send me a pillow without the stuffing, if I might win it! Saves a bit?!

I love those notecards, Koreena.  I bet you'll do something lovely with them!

And the pillow is just darling.

Aww the Owl pillow is cute!

Notecards always get used around here and so much fun!

Prices on shipping can get complicated quickly....

Ran into a problem, having to search a bit more for a notebook of the right size.  Apparently all the ones I use at home are a bit bigger than what I can find for sale..Pics of the whole package will be up as soon as I find the right size.

I'm thinking about what I could make... What I have time to make... And the postage discussion is interesting!

In Sweden anything under 2 kg can be considered a letter, but if it's too bulky to fit the mail slot there's a "bulky" fee on top of the normal postage. It's usually waay better to send as a letter, not only because of the cost. I had a little chat with a friend who worked part time at a sorting station, and if your small package happens to end up under a 15 kg package all your carefully wrapped swap presents might be crushed. If they go as "letter" they could at worst be squished under a 2 kg letter Tongue

Maybe a lacy cotton scarf for summer? I do have a nearly finished knitted bracelet, but it's made in alpacka so it'll be fairly warm!
