i believe this may have happened recently...where you list your "subculture" (ie, rockabilly, glam, punk, hippie, boho, etc) and someone crafts for you?  any interest in doing it again?  i missed out last time and it sounds fun.

hippie swap?
It might be fun to pair people up who have completely DIFFERENT styles to make us think outside the box...
or would that be too strange for everyone?

Oh, I'd LOVE this! Just please please don't make the send date until at least September. I've already got like four swaps going out in August and I'd really like to lighten the post office burden on my mom. I'm just a good kid like that.

beatnik...question...with your idea, are you suggesting that the crafter tries something different (hippie crafts something surferish for surfer) or the receiver gets something different (hippie crafts something hippieish for surfer)?  does that make sense?

what does everyone else think?

yeah, I was thinking that if a hippie was to craft something surfer-ish for a surfer and so on... but now that I think about it again, I realize that it would be harder to guage your partner's tastes, and there would be a higher likelihood of disappointing your swapp-EE.
I would still love to swap in this one, especially seeing as how there is another hippie interested Wink

I'd love to participate.  I'm in the tattoo/body mod swap right now and it's my first.  Can I still sign up?  I promise I'm well into making awesome stuff for that one.

I think this would be really cool, to see someone else's perception of our own personal subculture. I'd totally be in for it!

quite possibly i could start this soon.  maybe next week?  it would be my first time organizing.  what's the norm?  a week sign-up, a month to craft?  any thoughts?

you don't have to be it, just like stuff from it.  Much less pressure that way  Smiley.  I was in the first swap but might be into doing it again.

I would really like to join this swap.  Next week would be good for me, too, since I'm finishing up my last swap by then.  PM me when it happens, please.  I have some really good ideas for any hippies out there, although that is not what I would classify myself as.

i'm organizing a swap right now. i had two weeks for sign ups and two weeks for crafting. i wouldn't do that, though. this is the type of swap where it matters what you're crafting for your partner. my swap wasn't so specific.

and on another note -- if the sendouts were like sometime in september i'd be able to join. it sounds cool. i'm thinking ... emo?

Yeah, if sendouts are earlier than September 15, I'm not joining. I'm only allowing myself two swaps every two weeks. If it could go out closer to the 21st, the better for me! :-P

yes, i'm thinking end of september sendouts.

oh, and i know it's hard to label yourself, particularly as one definite thing.  like rachelyra said - you don't have to consider yourself 100% (insert subculture here), but just like to receive things in that style.  or, maybe your style is ecclectic - a little bit of this, a little bit of that.  just be sure to specify what "this" and "that" are.  if you were really daring, you could ask for something that you are totally unfamiliar with - as a sort of "introduction" to the culture.  oh the possibilities...

Sleepywalkin, you need to have completed a swap to be swap organizer.  In your profile, it says that you have 3 swaps in progress.  According to the swap rules, you should have completed one before you signed up for another, but looks like your swap organizers missed that.

If one of your swaps has been completed and you're just waiting for feedback, please contact the swap organizer and have her enter your feedback.

Otherwise, someone else will need to organize this swap.  Please PM me with any questions.  Thanks!

i did respond to your PM, but i'll post a recap here.  i have completed a swap, but that organizer never entered it on my profile.  i tried contacting her several times thru PM and thru the posts, but never received any kind of response.

you can confirm that i completed the pinup girl swap with cloefox (my partner) or jadeymcshadey (the organizer) or by looking at the post and/or gallery.

so, is this ok?
