I was part of round 1 that was organized by jmiller614 and was just looking through it again - and realised that it was almost 2 years ago that we did it.  I'm also stealing her image from that swap too, because it was awesome.

The basic concept is that participants make several small items to send to their partners, and their partners abandon the art in various public locations with the hopes of sharing a bit of beauty and art with strangers, and hopefully giving them a surprise bit of whimsy to brighten their day.  Some people added creative packaging and notes to draw attention, explain the concept, or give information for maybe someone to respond, but that was purely optional.

I was thinking that now that Spring is finally showing up in some parts and more people are enjoying the outdoors (hopefully), that perhaps this idea can be resurrected.

Would anyone else be interested in having another go at this?

I remember that swap! Has it really been that long?  It was fun, if I have a spot I'd definitely join (I'm going to be full next week, but hopefully I'll start getting some cleared by the end of May?)

I looked at the gallery and think this is pretty neat! If I think of something to make, I think it'd be fun to join!

I missed the first one (think I was full at the time) but have done my own abandoning of art lately and I am loving it!  I would love to be in another round of this!

We should try to brainstorm a way to see what could garner more responses somehow too - I made little note cards that had a link to the blog post on my blog about the items, and an explanation of what the intention was.  I think this time I will abandon in quiet places of culture like libraries, some local galleries and the like.  Perhaps at art stores I frequent too, or the local kids hospital?   Places where someone may appreciate finding a piece of whimsical art?

Then again, we got a good response when I abandoned a piece near a local hiking trail.

I'd be up for this! I love swaps, but let's face it, there comes a point when you just run out of room for displaying your awesome swap goodies!!

I do art abandonment on my own and I love it! I've worked so hard on realizing it's not so much about getting a response, but more about the warm fuzzies I get knowing that something I really enjoyed creating will find a new home and hopefully someone will love it just as much as I do! Getting a response that it was found is like the icing on the cake, though  Wink

Was there ever a round two? Summers are short in New England, so I haven't been on the computer as much... I love the idea of this and want to join if I'm not too late!

I was hoping to have a bit of a swap hiatus, but if the interest is still there, I could still go for it too....

This seems like a fun little swap.  Would love to make things to be left where youngsters might find them; you know kids love finding treasures!  Smiley
