Well using Jordy's awesome tutorial I made a diaper bag for my son.  I love it so much because he was getting too old for those cutesy diaper bags, he needed a bigger bag to hold all his keep-me-entertained stuff, and I couldn't afford a new one anyway.

The best part about this bag, the most expensive thing was the interfacing.  Both fabrics I found at the $1/yd table at Wal-mart and I only used 3/4 yd each so that was $1.50.  The 4 "D" rings I used I found in my mom's old sewing stuff so they were FREE.  The strap was $0.78/yd and I used 1  2/3 yd.  And I bought the matching thread for like $1.74.....So that's like $7.00 total for this HUGE one of a kind bag.

Here's one side with a small pocket (it has an extra outfit stuffed into it):

Here's the other side with a larger pocket:

Lastly, here's the inside (notice the pockets were baggier than I expected):

Thanks to my husband badgering I found a way to make the strap adjustable after staring at another bag's strap for 20 minutes.  All it took was the other 2 "D" rings in the box of 4.

Tell me what you think.  Questions and comments are welcome.

That's a great diaper bag!  I really like the earthy colors and the adjustable strap.  I just finished one for a friend that's a little flashy but I think I want to make one with milder pattern for myself.  Again, nice work!  Can't beat the price either!

Oh, and considering you can either buy ugly teddy bear diaper bags or chi chi bags at boutiques for way too much money, you really done good!

Very cute idea!  I just discovered the Jordy bag as I'm getting back to sewing and I absolutely love how versitile it is!  I never though about using d-rings or making an adjustable stap, but I may have to look into doing that.  I also love the fact that you designed this yourself - when it comes to something like this, you have to make sure it has all the right pockets in all the right places, but when you're the one making it, you get to decide!  Great job!

I love your diaper bag, especially the fact that the strap is adjustable. I just found out that I am going to be a first-time grandma and I would like to make one for my daughter. Could you give more details about how you threaded the D-rings to make the strap adjustable?

Thanks
Marilyn

You know hehe I'm not even quite sure how I did it.  All I can say is how I figured out how to do it.  I stared at an adjustable strap of another bag and kept thinking of the D ring belts and somehow I figured it out.

Too cute!  Did you sew the strap to either of the D rings you used to make it adjustable?
