Love the faces. I made my own out of polymer clay, baked, then made a mould to make multiples. It was fun, but my face is a bit plain but I think it will work. We shall see.

I pinned a ton of ideas for this swap on Pinterest!  (Although most of the dolls I pinned look VERY similar!  Roll Eyes)  I see that I seem to gravitate towards the dolls with faces.  I'm wondering, though...how do you attach the faces to whatever medium you made the doll from?  (I personally use E-6000 for everything, but I was wondering...)

If you carve holes in the sides/top/wherever... you can stitch them on. I think that will be the route I will take.

I will be asking my partner if they prefer a sculpted face (polymer clay) or an embroidered face...

If I were your partner I wouldn't know which to pick. You are great at both techniques! I do not envy your partner's position. Wink

Teaser. I wanted to make a spirit doll from the pattern I posted. So this is a prototype, though it will become a spirit doll for me. I like the pattern, but I like it better with stitched on the right side then cut with seams exposed. I'm not sure the fabric works, so I;ll probably cover it up with wrapped fabric. And there is a prototype face. Hee-haw. This is fun. I may make more for the fall craft fair.

Teaser spoiler...none of you are getting this doll (it's mine!, stuffed with my intentions) and I may not make this pattern for the swap. But then again I may.

cmarion3 I love those lace bits in there. I can't wait to see how she turns out.

I love the black/white batik fabric - it makes the doll look tribal. Hope it helps you with all of your goals and future projects!

And yes, the faces I bought do have a few holes along the edges of the sides for stitching. I think they can be glued also, and I can use the holes for ribbons or fibers....I think I may make one for my momma for Sunday, full of good intentions. She's a pretty happy camper so I'll have to do some research and find some more positive intentions. Maybe with lavender or sage or other herbs. Off to Wikipedia.....
