I made this for the Geek Easter Basket swap.  I chose the theme of the basket to be Howl's Moving Castle.  

I painted the scene of Howl eating a star and placed it inside a jar.  I painted the outside of the jar black (except for a "window" on the front and little star shapes all around) so you can only see in from the front.   There is a little tea light behind the "star" so that the jar glows when you turn it on.

you can see the little stars shining through here:

You must open the jar so you can get to the light to turn it on.  Here is a picture of it open:

Absolutely adorable. What a great idea. I've always wanted to know what sort of lights they use for these. When you say a tea light, is it a candle or a battery operated? Where do you get those from? I so have to try something like this one day.
