Hanging out in the woods

So my bundle of lovliness.
Some of you will know that when my day job is as a psychotherapist, having run women's groups for a long time in a grubby hall in our local town - I had been long looking for my own homestead.
Cue - local farmer with an old garage and a few phone calls later, and I was practically given a little barn with its own internal stream (LOL !!! My technical term for an on-going flood problem)

So last summer my lovely husband when into the barn which was being used as a spider home and a garage, and he transformed it with paint and lining boards, and flooring and carpet.
And then I went in there with donated chairs up cycled with old curtains and craftster swappages and shelving units rescued from the tip......... and finally, my barn is finished.

I was nudged by a dear friend to also use it as a group room for people to come and craft with me too.
I wanted my craft group to represent things I believe in, and so I came up with a concept of everything we make being made from things we rescue from charity shops and jumble and of course the rubbish !!! And so the way people pay to come, is partly by bringing along bags of their own junk which we then all share. Cue shelves full of cut up sheets and old clothes, jars full of beads from old necklaces etc etc.  Last week it opened for the first time with a group making hand made fabric paper. What was just gorgeous was that people ended up getting a little "Therapy" on me, and making the paper to represent life journeys. Each person came feeling un crafty, and all left feeling confident and happy.

So what I realised was that this barn, had finally brought together my two biggest passions - Crafting and Therapy.

Without further ado........ "Earthed".

What a wonderful project!
I could so see myself doing this (well, if I didn't have fibro and other chronic health issues).
You found the perfect place. Or better: you turned it into the perfect place!

This is beautiful! I love that you made your own space for your clients instead of just renting out some humdrum office in town. What an amazing location for therapy!!
