They're 100% baby alpaca, and so soft!  I started these last month in an attempt to make winter end before I finished.  I wore them once a few days ago though!

Love the color of your mittens and alpaca yarn, I really need to try it.

Thanks!  It was a pretty easy pattern, these were my first pair of gloves/mittens and I didn't have any problems figuring it out.  I was a little confused reading ahead, but once I got there it made sense.

I <3 these. Alpaca wool is supposed to be super expensive and turns out gorgeous.. I have a friend with 2 alpacas (a white one and a brown one) but don't know how to turn the sheared off coats into wool..

But these are beautiful. That takes skill. I love them. It inspires me to make a few pairs (not with such expensive wool though!) for next winter. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you!

It was about $22 for one hank, which is about the upper limit of my price range.  Not as bad as a $47 hank of cashmere, but still higher end.  You can get alpaca wool blends, which aren't quite as nice, but a lot less money.  This one is half alpaca half sheep's wool, but cheaper: http://www.yarn.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/product.detail/categoryID/02AC21B4-AE19-4896-9562-69EC40F72FC5/productID/6B3ECCF6-23F3-4F43-BC04-FF76BE43656C/
