do I have to use a certain needle with this machine. The needles that came with it work good, but I have different numbers for different kinds of fabric. When I put another kind in, the looper threads break. I can sew real slow and the machine just about stops, & when you use the hand wheel, I know that 1 of the threads will break. I have tried adjusting the machine according to the manual, nothings seems to work. I have about 300 different size needles, I hate the thought of having to buy new ones. Got any ideas?

Could the ones that you have been trying be sewing machine needles?
Not all sergers can handle those , and wrong needles can cause damage by hitting something.
Manual should tell you wich needles to use.
