Hi I have had my sewing machine for a couple of years and ive always wanted to learn to make my own clothes...I work full time and never have set days off so cant really do a course at college but I would still love to learn to sew...is it worth trying to teach myself using books or is there a distance learning course that I could try I live in the uk xx

I mostly use tutorials I find online. Just start simple. Also www.craftsy.com has a lot of online classes you could check out.

This might make me sound silly, but I find most of my tutorials on youtube.  It's easier for me to watch someone doing it and replicate, rather than reading about it.  It really depends on how you learn best!

Video tutorials would probably be easiest, a book describing selvedges and other terms may not be as helpful as a gifted seamstress showing you in a video.

These are pretty good: http://www.itsseweasytv.com
