Buried in Beads!

Some time ago I finished this project, but didn't get around to post pictures.

I made a set of conjoined orbs!

It was really neat, as you actually bead both around each other as you go.

They aren't huge either....  The single serving oatmeal cup was the best thing I had for scale.  Don't mind the stovetop.  It's the only decent place to take pictures in my house.

This is all peyote stitch with thread.  No wire.

This was another pattern from The Beaded Sphere.  I did swap the colors though.  The blue is lighter with a more translucent look- a lapis shade, with a shiny gold.  Awesome book, the technique is well worth learning!

I'm trying something totally off the grid as my next major one.  Kepler polyhedrons, anyone?

looks very complicated and cool...how long did it take you to do both spheres?  It sure looks like a lot of beading...love how you interchanged the colors!

It seemed to go really quickly since I had the mirror pattern.  It gets tedious to me when I have to do the same one a million times but this broke up the monotony.
I think it took a couple of weeks working a few hours each night.  This was actually more fun than the star sphere I did before since I had two types to make.

Credit for the reverse colors goes to the pattern book, their original was a solid black and solid gold meant to be Egyptian themed.  I liked the lapis color with the shiny gold, since it looked more thematic to me.  Cheesy
Then someone pointed out it is blue and gold, UAF colors, and I was sort of less than enthused.  At least my colors are shiny.

Thanks so much!
I cheated on these, I finally tried using a short needle to connect all of the faces.  It worked great once I realized it was short and stopped stabbing my fingers with it.  Cheesy

It's pretty good sized, like hand sized, so it's more of a coffee table decoration or looks great hanging up as a Suncatcher bauble!
