So, last week I tried to make some mp soap. I wanted it to be clear, with yellow and purple embeds in.

To begin with I made yellow and purple slabs of opaque soap. I allowed it to set and then cut out lots of small shapes using cutters. The shapes are roughly 1" in length, and a couple of cms tall.

I then melted some translucent soap and added a couple of drops of blue. I then poured over the embeds.

This happened:

My questions are why did this happen? How can I prevent it happening in the future. Is it because my shapes were so tiny?

I'm also interested in knowing if there is a way to get embeds throughout the soap and not just in the bottom of the bar?

Many thanks
Sarah

There is specific "suspension soap base" that helps the embeds stay in the middle of the bar. You might also try non-bleeding soap dyes, some work a little better than others. Unfortunately sometimes it's a bit of trial and error!

Did the embeds melt away & blend into the base? If so, could you put the embeds in as the base is cooling & perhaps pour the base & add the embeds in layers to get the embeds to look more floaty?

Thnk you for the comments.  Isewcute yep they melted away.  Love your idea of putting them into the soap as opppse to putting the soap over them. Will have a go at pouring multiple layers too and if that does not work will try maremares udea.
I really appreciate the help, thank you =)
